Sagebrush Apartments
Almost-perfect exposure for the Sagebrush Apartments sign image. That's because my back was to the sun so I could pick up the deep blue sky behind the sign. Good contrast.

Short Film Fest 2011
It's 100 degrees and everyone's wearing shorts to watch the movies of the Short Film Fest. The festival runs until Monday.
The films I saw were mediocre at best--poor technical quality and not-so-very-good acting. There was one exception--an animated short--that was ingenious about rodents running after each other around the world. At the end, the camera is drawn back into a scene of them in real life in their cages.
Funny thing about that short film--it's not mentioned in the program. Go figure that one out.

You never know what you're going to find on the road in Palm Springs. This old jalopy was parked on Indian, downtown.

Old Barry's making a new album. He calls it 15 minutes, referring to Andy Warhol's prediction that every person in the world will have 15 minutes of fame.
"I found myself in every song," Manilow says in a USA Today article. You'd think at 68 (on June 17), he would have already found himself, several times, even.
Mainlow lives in Palm Springs.

Joshua Tree National Park
Joshua Tree National Park is close to Palm Springs, about 45 minutes away. So far it's been a cool spring. The flowers are blooming and so are some of the Joshua tress. If you visit the area don't miss this park.
