Jews in Palm Springs--Understanding Hasidic Judaism

There is a large Jewish community in the Coachella Valley, many of whom are Hasidic. The number of Jews in the Coachella Valley, 32,000, makes it one of the largest Jewish communities in the United States. In Palm Desert, anywhere from an eighth to a quarter of the population is Jewish. The breadth of the Jewish community in and around Palm Springs extends from the mostly secular to the strictest of the orthodox, the latter of which is the least understood. Among the Jewish people of the Palm Springs area are the Hasidic Jews , a people who are deeply religious and conservative in dress and culture. Covering the entire body is the norm for both Hasidic men and women, no matter how hot it is. Men wear heavy hats of rabbit fur and long black coats, and women wear long sleeves and skirts that dangle around their ankles. The Palm Springs Rabbit

Rabbit in Palm Springs If you're a resident of Palm Springs, surely you've seen this type of rabbit. If you live near an area that has any vacant land near or around it, including golf courses, then you know this type of rabbit. They're especially plentiful on the golf courses that extend from Golf Club Drive near Cathedral City to Sunrise in Palm Springs. Perhaps your first guest as to what type of rabbit this is was a jackrabbit . We have those to, but the rabbit in the image above is not a jackrabbit. Its ears and body are too small. Jack rabbits live further into the desert. You might see one in South Palm Springs near Indian Canyons. How about a cottontail rabbit. Were you thinking that? Well...if you were you're close. The rabbit in the image above is a desert cottontail rabbit , pretty common in the Colorado Desert (not Mohave) where we are located. Dolly Way Back When; President in 2024

The photographers had been barred off from getting that close. That was strange. (Oops wrong Dolly). She performed in twenty-eight concerts , including one in Indio at Fantasy Springs Casino on Feb. 16, 2007. I was there. All I could find of Dolly Parton's image is a low res image of her on my Google Drive. To be sure, there's softness (blur) in the photo. That's because I had a lousy zoom lens by Tamron that didn't work well. The enlargement of the photo didn't help it either. Take a look at Dolly's set list for the concert.
