See the image of the turtle from Morongo Valley near Palm Springs in the high desert on the top? This a desert turtle that has had its shell broken.
The close up image shows how a kind sole paper clipped the shell together after it broke.
The paper clips appear to have a bit of wear and the turtle's shell has grown over part of the metal.
Astonishing isn't it?
Despite it all, it appears to be thriving, so it has been left alone.
