Up in the clouds on the Palm Springs Tramway

Anyone who’s driven into Palm Springs has likely noticed the Aerial Tramway off of Highway 111 on the way into the city. While it is billed as the “world’s largest rotating aerial tram,” you might not know that there are three such rotating trams around the world! The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway and The Titlis Rotair are two similar tram experiences all installed by the same company - Doppelmayr Garaventa Group. Uniquely designed to allow everyone to experience a 360 view of the terrain below, these tramways are an exciting way to take in majestic mountainous panoramas effortlessly.

If you feel like you’ve seen all there is to see on the Palm Springs Tram, just head over to Table Mountain in Cape Town or Mount Titlis in Switzerland and try another one! The Titlis Rotair was actually the world’s first rotating aerial tramway and offers views of one of Europe’s largest glaciers. Perching at over 9,908 feet above sea level, this is the highest peak of the three rotating trams. In South Africa, the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway 3,501ft. summit offers unparalleled views of Cape Town and the Atlantic seaboard. Let’s be honest while the vehicle itself might be similar, the views couldn’t be more different.  How many of the world’s rotating aerial tramways have you experienced?
